Last night, our Newcomer Classroom had their annual Thanksgiving Celebration, and it was a night full of joy, connection, and learning! This amazing classroom, led by Mrs. Lumely, Mrs. Iversen, and Ms. Tarian, is made up of students from over 15 different countries who speak more than 10 languages!
Every year, the families come together to share a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and it's such a special way for some to try this tradition for the first time, while others share their own family customs. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to learn about the different cultures in this classroom, and a fun tradition that brings us all closer together.
We’re filled with gratitude for the students and staff who made this celebration so memorable!
The winter sports season is off to a great start! Girls Basketball hit the court last week, and Wrestling kicks off this week! It's time to get moving and show your school spirit!
Don't forget—there’s still time to sign up for winter sports! Check out team schedules and sign-up info on Bound https://gobound.com/sd/schools/sfedison
Students from Sonia Sotomayor (pictured in this photo) and the rest of the Sioux Falls School District would like to wish you a Happy Veteran's Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
South Dakota public schools proudly recognize and support the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. Their sacrifices and dedication have upheld the values and freedoms we cherish, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to protecting our nation.
Our schools are committed to instilling respect and appreciation for veterans among our students, helping them understand the importance of service and dedication. We invite our community to join us in expressing heartfelt gratitude and respect for our veterans.
Thank you to all our veterans for your service and sacrifice!
REMINDER! Sioux Falls School District schools and offices will be CLOSED on Monday, November 11, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Thank you to all who have served! Especially SFSD staff members who proudly serve(d) in our schools and on the front lines. 🇺🇸
Theater Students Bring Stories to Life for Preschoolers!
Mrs. Sundvold’s Theater class recently had a special "Story Time" event when preschoolers from Christ the King and Peace Lutheran Preschools visited Edison. The 8th graders had a blast reading stories aloud, bringing their characters to life with dramatic flair!
Both the preschoolers and the 8th graders had a fantastic time. The younger students enjoyed hearing the fun stories, while the 8th graders practiced their dramatic reading and expression skills. It was the perfect chance for the theater students to showcase their talents and share the joy of reading in a fun, interactive way.
It was a memorable experience for everyone, and a wonderful reminder of how much fun storytelling can be!

🌟 PBIS Store Spotlight! 🌟
Our students are doing a fantastic job earning PBIS points and cashing them in for some awesome rewards in the PBIS store! This week, our DREAM focus is ACTING RESPONSIBLY by making sure everyone has their Student ID. IDs are important for the bus, library, and lunch. If you are need of a new ID, they are $5 in the office.
Keep up the great work, and keep earning those points! 🎉
Fun in FCS Class! 🎉 Our 6th graders are getting to know their new table teams with a creative challenge: they collaborated to draw a picture using just one marker! What a fun way to "break the ice" and foster teamwork! 🖍️🤝 Check out their creativity in action!
