Happy Custodian Appreciation Day! Whether it’s tackling biohazards, spilled juice, crunched takis, or turning into snow-removal ninjas, they handle it all with a smile and a “can-do” attitude! No mess too gross, no task too tough – our custodians get the job done! 💪 Ms. Stassi and Ms. Mason's classes made special gifts and cards to show our custodians just how special they are to us. Thank you to Mike, Cam, Derrik, Jai, Chance and Matt for making our school sparkle!

This Friday, October 4th is PICTURE RETAKE DAY! If your student is in need of retakes OR missed the first picture day, please send the picture envelope or order form with them to school. Let's take another moment to celebrate the tremendous success of our Color Run! A huge shout out to the PTO, parent volunteers, and staff for their hard work and dedication. The Edison Bash Color Run is tomorrow! With only one day left for our fundraiser, that makes tonight the LAST NIGHT FOR DONATIONS! So far, every share and donation in our school has added up to $12,413! We have our GRAND PRIZE WINNER being announced TOMORROW! This grand prize winner will receive a Nintendo Switch. 🌟📚 Shoutout to Our Amazing School Library! 📚🌟 Let’s take a moment to celebrate our fantastic school library and its incredible website! From a diverse selection of books to cozy reading nooks, our library is a haven for every student. The website is a treasure trove of resources. Head to www. libcat.sf.k12.sd.us. Once on the site, select Edison Middle School! On Destiny Discover, students create a book favorites list, see what they have checked out, and see if they have a fine. They can also access Book Butler where a student fills out a form and then Mrs. Smith suggests books based on the answers. Students can also recommend books that we should have in our library, how cool is that?! The library also hosts Fantastic Fridays, Morning Library and Book Clubs. A big thank you to our library staff Mrs. Smith (librarian) and Mrs. Hoekstra (library clerical) for their hard work in fostering a love of reading and learning in our community. Let’s keep exploring, discovering, and enjoying all that our library has to offer!

Student Spotlight! 7th grader Jacari was nominated by Coach Percival as Athlete of the Week. Earlier in the week after the 7th grade football game, Jacari assisted a parent from the opposing team gather up her belongings and fold up her chair, allowing her to leave the game quickly and easily. That parent then called Edison the next day to give high praise to Jacari and was very grateful for his help. Coach P says " Being a student-athlete is more than just the impact you make on the field but also off the field. Jacari has shown what it means to follow the Edison DREAM. As a coaching staff and facility staff, we are all extremely proud of him." Great job, Jacari and keep showing what the Edison DREAM looks like!

We had a fabulous mentor kick off breakfast today at Edison. We’re so grateful for our partnerships with TeamMates and LSS. We have an amazing group of mentors who selflessly give their time weekly to our students to support and encourage them on their middle school journey and beyond!
