Edison students will be participating in the Fall NWEA MAP assessments tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 04. Students will complete Reading and Math testing. The MAP tests help us determine students' instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year in the areas of Reading and Math. While the assessment is administered online, students take these assessments in the building with their teacher on their chromebook. Please help your student to remember to bring his/her chromebook home to charge and back to school tomorrow fully charged. The MAP tests also require earbuds or headphones. Earbuds can be purchased in the office for $1.00 for students who need them. Students will be testing in their PRO and CORE classes:
Attendance tomorrow is essential! Please have students to school on time. Students who need to be absent due to illness, or being out of town will have an opportunity to test at a later date.
Pictured are some things your student can do to prepare, but the most important thing to remember is to TRY-do your best! If some parts of the test seem hard, keep trying and don't give up!
Due to the forecasted weather in the Sioux Falls Area all OUTDOOR Edison Middle School activities are CANCELED today.
Football - Practice is canceled and students will need to have a way home arranged for them after school.
Cross Country - Athletes will not run outside. However, Cross Country athletes will meet and practice indoors. They can be picked up at their normal time.
7th Grade Volleyball - Practice will continue as scheduled. Athletes can be picked up at their normal time.

Hey EMS Families! The Sioux Falls School District is transitioning to Bound.com as our athletics website. Through Bound, you can see our School Calendar, Register Athletes for Sports, see Game and Practice schedules, and much more! Attached is a PDF of a flyer with directions on how to sign up for ALL athletics this year! You can sign your student up for sports all year round today! There is a place where you must upload a completed physical as part of the registration of your student. If you have already brought in a completed physical OR if your athlete participated in athletics last year in the Sioux Falls School District you DO NOT need to upload a completed physical to Bound. Please upload the blank physical copy that is attached during your registration and LEAVE IT BLANK. If you HAVE NOT turned in a physical for your student and they have not participated in athletics before this school year, please upload your COMPLETED and SIGNED physical and medical history form (front and back side) during your registration on Bound. You will not need to turn in a physical copy to Edison if you complete this step! Reminder, out CAT-apult Day is THIS Monday, August 19th from 3pm-7pm. We are so excited to see you all!
6th Grade WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Orientation- THIS WEEK! Your Edison 6th grader is invited to attend a WEB Orientation on TOMORROW, August 14. WEB stands for Where Everybody Belongs and is designed to help 6th graders with the transition to middle school. Adult WEB Coordinators and 8th grade WEB leaders will spend 1.5 hours working with the 6th graders. When your child comes to the WEB Orientation on Wednesday, August 14, they will get to meet the 8th grade WEB leaders that will come to their homeroom once a month throughout the year. 6th graders will participate in some fun activities to help them get to know others from their homeroom, in addition to receiving a tour of the building. We hope your child can make it to this event! (No need to RSVP, just show up at the correct time! There is no cost for this event.). If your child IS in the Spanish Immersion program, their session is from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
If your child is NOT in the Spanish Immersion program, their session is from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
Please bring them to the correct session.
Please drop your child off at the NORTH ENTRANCE of Edison (the large parking lot). We prefer that they get dropped off between 8:15-8:30 for the first session, and between 10:15-10:30 for the second session.
Please pick your child up promptly at the time their session ends. (This event is only for STUDENTS.) 6th graders do not need to bring anything with them to the WEB Orientation. Encourage your child to attend!

We wanted to give a huge shout out to our Sioux Falls Middle School Poetry Slam contestants from Edison! They went out there, gave it their all, and brought the house down! We have some incredibly talented kids here at Edison and we are very proud of them! GO CATS!

Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️
